About me

The “real life” OsKar is, in fact a polo-playing pony!!  OsKar is a 6 year old gelding who was born in Argentina but actually came over to Scotland (by plane!) two years ago.

Several things make OsKar stand out from most ponies:

OsKar
  1. His Colouring – OsKar is what is known as “skewbald” that is brown and white and his markings are very unique – you don’t see too many like him! His cute pink nose is also pretty unusual and in the summer he actually needs to wear sunscreen to prevent him from getting burnt!

  2. His Character – OsKar actually believes that he was born to be human! He is really naughty and too curious for his own good – last year he got stuck in the horsebox because he was being nosey!!

Due to his fantastic good nature, OsKar is the perfect pony to be involved in a project such as this one – he loves attention and is really patient so that when he goes round on his school visits, even the smallest or most nervous child can pat him!

OsKar regularly plays polo all over the UK and this year alone has played at some impressive venues – including the Gleneagles 5 star Hotel! In Scotland OsKar plays at Edinburgh, Perth or Borders Polo Clubs and is joined by his pony brothers and sisters. Each pony plays one “chukka” – a period of 7 minutes. Most polo matches have four chukkas and a pony is allowed to play two chukkas, although OsKar very rarely has to work that hard!
